OK, so there’s TAR Asia, wondering when Australia will open it’s doors to all TAR fans so we can audition for it!!!

  2. Rob Says:

Not allowing competitors from Australia on TAR Asia, that sucks!!!! What’s the matter, afraid of a little competition from the round eyes? Worried that we might beat our Asian brothers to the finish line? Concerned that your viewers won’t like seeing an Aussie with a million dollar cheque at the end of the show? Come on, you buy up all our land and dump your used cars here, at least give us a shot at getting on the show. Two bronzed loud mouthed Aussies would be a promoters dream. Every show needs a villian.
    A very narrow minded decision!

  3. Mark Says:

    Rob,
If you bothered to read the application on the TARA website, you would see that Australians can enter, as long as they are living and working in an Asian country.

I am sure you would be annoyed if a local version of the show (like Australian version of survivor, biggest loser etc) was produced and people from all over the world could apply.

The producers wouldn’t cast a racist anyway. Extensive tests and background checks are done on all tv contesants on shows.

  4. Rob Says:

    Mark,

That’s great if you live in an Asian country, but sadly we are not classed as an Asian country by TARA, even though we are only a few hundred kilometres from East Timor and Indonesia.

As far as people from other countries appearing on Australian shows - I would love it. The poularity of shows produced overseas proves that, and stations such as SBS Australia provide a range of programming for various cultures and ethnic groups.

As for being a racist, you can read into my comments what you want. I was raised in Singapore, have lived all over the world and welcome all creeds and races. Have you ever heard of tongue-in-cheek or stirring the pot? (don’t bother with the comeback of foot in mouth).

As for producers not casting a racist, have you listened to some of the comments that have been made by Lake on the new series?

    Cheers,

    Rob

  5. Tammy Says:

In regards to Rob’s comment on Lake in the new series. I think Lake is just catching a bad wrap and his comments were not intended to be racial. Obviously his comments and conversations were selectively aired. Come on, why would he do that to himself on national television?! Give the guy a chance.

  6. Rob Says:

    Hi Tammy,

What you’re saying about selective editing is true…I’ll give him a chance :) But watch this space, as I don’t think this will be the last said on the topic.

    Cheers

    Rob
