The Amazing Race : Asian Edition

The Amazing Race Channel News Asia reports on Asian edition of tThe Amazing Race. As I mentioned earlier, AXN Asia has optioned The Amazing Race for the Asia Pacific region

Rick Ow of SPE Networks Asia, parent company of AXN says that the Asian version will debut in the second part of 2006. No word yet on when auditions will be held and which nationalities will be invited to participate aside from Singaporeans.

Prize money will be “lucrative” but it may not reach the US$1M that winners of the Amazing Race now receive.

TAR fans can also email AXN with their suggestions for the Asian edition. Send your e-mails to feedback@axn-asia.com

me and my friends are interested to join the amazing race asian edition. but somehow we dont know what the rules are and how and when and where the audition will be.. we suggest that per team will compose of 4,but not as well as the family edition of the american edition of the amazing race….. we also suggest teams to be from different asian nations not only those from singapore….. if the teams will only be from singapore then it should be amazing race singapore edition no the so-called asian edition…….

  3. john Says:

teams must come from the Philippines, china, thailand, malaysia, singapore, india, japan, vietnam, laos, cambodia, indonesia, east timor, brunei, taiwan, myanmar, mongolia, sri lanka, nepal, pakistan, afghanistan, saudi arabia, bahrain, israel, lebanon, yemen, kazakhstan, uzbekistan, tajikistan, turkmenistan, maldives, iran iraq, qatar, etc…. then the organizers must choose the final 12 or 11 teams from those nations not only from singapore though singapore is also a choice of country where one team must come from…….. thanks…….

  4. rul Says:

    hi! john

    nice suggestion…

I think, in Production Point of view…. it’s quite difficult to do all audition in all Asian countries….

I guess Audition might be held at AXN Corprate - S’pore, India, Korea, Taiwan and Japan..

Singapore - for M’sia, Thai, Phil and Indonesia etc
    Korea - Korea
    Japan - Japan
India - India, East Asia etc
Taiwan - Hong Kong, China, Taiwan…

I prepare a team compose of two… as usual not like Family Edition… later will have The Amazing Race Asia Family Edition….

    I suggest
    2 Teams from S’pore/Malaysia/Indonesia
    2 Teams from Phil/Thai/etc
    2 Teams from Korea/Japan
    2 Teams from India/Middle East
2 Teams from China/Hong Kong Asia
1 Teams from other the above or one of above

Assume 1st version only consist of 11 Team

We can show a colorfull of Asian….

from the show we also can see colorfull of language…

I have watched every season of The Amazing Race and always checked if and when they may advertise for auditions from other countries and also wonder why when so many shows are picked up by our stations that there has only ever been the American version and/or only Americans allowed to enter. I am Australian and would love the chance to compete in The Amazing race.

I heard that The Amazing Race is going to have an Amazing Race: Asian Edition. I do hope it’ll come true. Being an Amazing Race fan, this is a dream come true for me. I hope I can join the race if it happens. I start watching the show from Zach and Flo up to the Linz Family (CONGRATULATIONS!) and I really love watching it from time to time. I do hope the Amazing Race: Asian Edition will come true.

I hope the audition would be on each country. The show really change me and if it happens. Amazing Race: Asian Edition would be a great success if it happens.

    Thank You, Amazing Race

Perhaps you should divide the auditions into regions, e.g. southeast asia, east asia, south asia etc. then pick teams that qualify from these regions, thus giving everyone a chance and eliminating talks of favouritism of certain countries.

I’m very excited about Amazing Race:Asian Edition. Picking up on Kerri’s comment, maybe there could be Amazing Race:Australiasia.

I think each team should compose of 3 people, this would make it more exciting because I’m sure in a team of 3, more often than not, 1 member would feel left out, creating the kind of reality tv drama that people so love. 4 i think would be too much, in terms of transport and accomodation.

    Amazing Race is the greatest.

  9. Jasper Says:

…and i thought i’ll just be a viewer for the rest of the Amazing Race history.

    PRETTY DAMN GOOD NEWS!

I’ll go pack now and pitch a tent in any audition holes in Asia…

    WOHOOOOO!

  10. Michelle Says:

Are Asians being short changed or discriminated against? The monetary reward is no where near the several series they had in US. I m truly glad the Amazing Race is running an Asian Leg, BUT, in what way are Asians less deserving? Asians shld stand up for themselves and boycott this Asian leg, just to prove a pt. ..My 2 cents’ worth.

  11. emily Says:

it’s hard to top the big budgets that Hollywood pumps into their productions - but US$100K is pretty amazing too I think. It’s absolutely phenomenal that The Amazing Race is brought over to this part of the world - the fact that other regions don’t even have an edition is proof that this show doesn’t need a million dollars to be AMAZING!

  12. daphne Says:

YEAAHH!! The Amazing Race has finally embarked into the asian hemisphere!! I’ve been a big fan of the amazing race! Indeed this would be an opportunity of a lifetime for many to travel within asia and to meet people from all around! Exciting! A fantastic move by AXN Asia! I recommend a team of 4 people though as it be more challenging and gut-wrenching for the audience to see how 4 people interact with each other over the nerve wrecking moments. They always say..the more the merrier! As for the asian leg, i guess nationalities hold no boundaries. It’s a race against time and wit. Bring em on!

  13. Zappelite Says:

Yah it is so cool to have an Asian edition of the Amazing Race! Has anyone signed up yet?

  19. Ria L. Says:

Hi! I’m also a big fan of the Amazing Race and would like to try out for the Asian Edition! Good luck to everyone! I just hope that they’ll give a chance to ‘ordinary people’ and not just choose those who are already popular like models, actors and actresses to join the race.

please check out- www.axn-asia.com- for info on how to join.

  20. Clive Says:

$1M compare to $100k , does that mean we are less value here in Asia then in the US?

I was thinking joining the show, but not anymore, have fun guys..

  21. Renante Bolo Says:

It was really awesome when I found out that The Amazing Race Asian Edition is coming to reality. However, I wasn’t eligible because when I read about the eligibility section I was sad because I’m not eligible enough to pass the audition. Maybe it was sad ’cause you waited so much about this show coming to Asia, however, this doesn’t mean I stop watching the show. To all the players for The Amazing Race Asian Edition goodluck to all of you and to the staff of The Amazing Race a big round of applause to all of you ’cause this is the best reality show ever created. Rock On! Amazing Race

  22. Damonio Says:

    hi! i m damonio i m a big fan amazing race.i m just 15 years n i want 2 race in amazing race,but how will i do that?

  23. Sarah G. Ronimo Says:

They need to get participants who does not have a strong, indifferent anf funny accent. Otherwise TAR will be not be catering to international viewers. Instead of being a source of excitement and suspense, it will be a butt of jokes because of odd sounding contestants.

They should get MORE teams from neutral-accent countries i.e. Philippines. Afterall, this country has the title of largest BPOs (Business Processing Office/Outsourcer) in Asia! These people talk to Americans and Europeans 24 x 7!

TAR will rule if they get more people to watch and enjoy their show!

Choose Asians from around the world! Just because we’re all Asian, it doesn’t mean we’re alike at all. It would be interesting to watch Asian Americans competing against European Asians, and of course Asians from Asia!
