The 7th season of The Amazing Race will premiere on Tuesday, March 1, three weeks after season 6 ends.

Why?

Zap2it News cites CBS Entertainment president Nina Tassler who says the ratings momentum the current “Amazing Race” has generated — it’s posted big improvements for CBS in its 9 p.m. Tuesday timeslot — justified the quick turnaround on the next installment. The timing also means the seventh race will carry into May sweeps.

“The Amazing Race 6″ will conclude with a two-hour finale on Tuesday, Feb. 8. A Dr. Phil special and a “One Day at a Time” reunion show will fill the time period on the two Tuesdays between the finale and “The Amazing Race 7’s” premiere.
